Things to Remember: One Wild and Precious Life

I love this one! New favourite. I know, every new one I do seems to become a new favourite of mine but this one in particular I enjoy a lot. I love the shape of this doily and knew I wanted to do something special for it. I adore this quote, I just like the words: wild and precious.
I also really enjoyed getting to work with the red thread, there's something about deep red crimson that stirs the soul a little bit.
I also noticed while stitching this that I write my lower case "y"s in two very different ways... huh! That's not a conscious thing.

National Music Month: Something for Kate

Well, this one is a bit of a no-brainer. How could I resist a band that sounds like it was dedicated to me?! Paul Dempsey, the lead singer is also a gorgeous, gorgeous man; his single work is also well worth looking into!

Easy, Easy Custard Slice

This is, hands down. The most satisfying treat for the lack of effort that goes into making these. Seriously? They throw together in minutes. They are also soooooo good!



Easy Vanilla Slice with Passionfruit Icing

Slice:
250g packet of morning coffee biscuits (I used Arnott's Nice biscuits)
300ml of thickened cream
1 cup milk (I used one cup of vanilla flavoured soy milk)
85g packet of vanilla instant pudding
Icing:
1 cup icing sugar
2 passionfruit
1 teaspoon soft butter

1. Cover the base of a slab pan with biscuits, plain side down.

2. Combine cream and milk in large bowl, add pudding mix and beat with rotary beater for about a minute or until mixture is smooth.

3. Pour pudding mixture over the biscuit base, then top with another layer of biscuits, plain side down.

4. Combine sifted icing sugar, passionfruit pulp and butter in a small heatproof bowl. Stir over hot water until icing is spreadable. (or, just do this bit in the microwave like I did..)

5. Spread icing over the top layer of biscuits.

6. Place in the fridge overnight to set.



STUFF YOUR FACE!

Oh man, these are so good.. I've made them a couple of times now just because of how easy they are to do; both with and without the icing. I think next time I tackle them with the icing I'll double the amount because I'm indulgent like that!
These got a huge thumbs up from family young and old last Family Dinner Night.

National Music Month: Machine Gun Fellatio

Like the name might suggest, these guys are outrageous with dark and sexy humor! Their live gigs were some of the best performances!
I wanted to stay at least some-what family friendly in my choices, but if you don't mind some crude language I highly suggest you go find "Mother Fucker on a Motorcycle" by these guys!

Surprise Guests!

The other morning I noticed there was a break in the rain so I thought I'd get up and go for my morning run (something I'm honestly trying to make a habit.. honestly.. really..)
I threw on some clothes, slipped into my sneaks then opened the curtains to the front window to head on out and promptly got scared out of my wits by some unexpected visitors!



Oh, hello there! It was our local mob of roos! There were quite more then these two but by the time I grabbed my camera just these two decided to hang around with me. I'm not sure who scared each other more, me or the roos.



It's not unusual to see them hanging out in your lawns; the population has recently risen in leaps and bounds (tee hee..) and has started to split off into several smaller mobs (I've identified two, I think..) so I think space is becoming more and more of an issue. What IS unusual is me thinking to grab my camera while they're around.
I've got my eyes on these roos though... now I have a veggie patch to protect, they're not quite as welcome!
